Need help, I D/L everything off my old XP comp onto this WD 1 T.B. external HD. Now I reloaded windows XP (FUN) and D/l all the updates and put on some basic software (what I can find, reminder don't lose your old software hehe). Here is the problem, I hook up this external HD back to the computer using usb and it doesn't recognize? What do I need to do? Anyone???? Please????

IIRC, you can't run an operating system on an external hard drive. You can restart the computer with the external plugged in and see what happens.
 
Fixed it. Yes the printer, keyboard and mouse are plugged into usb ports. Here's what did it. Like I said in the original post I just reloaded windows xp, I had to many bang marks in my device manager. I deleted them and loaded the printer, audio and one more thing can't remember and rebooted. I plugged in the HD and works perfect I already transfered pics. Now I have to find an old word, excel and powerpoint disk in my junk. Thanks for trying to help I appreciated it.... :good:
