Looks like a winner. For me at least. It's a nice budget gaming system.

Xion II Black w/ blue LEDs ATX Mid-Tower Case

Antec TruePower II 430W Power Supply

Gigabyte GA-K8U-939 Socket 939 Motherboard

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200 or higher (not sure yet)

Centon 1GB DDR400 PC3200 Memory

Maxtor 160GB SATA Hard Drive

NEC 16x DVD+/-RW Drive

Sapphire Radeon 9600XT 256MB Video Card

The total comes to around $520

What do ya guys think?

For just gaming, I would go down a little on the processor and get a better graphics card. A 9600XT is really going to bring you down with the rest of the computer like that.

One question: why are you building skt 939? AM2 is not more expensive.

Get the Athlon 64 X2 3800 AM2 and swap the mobo for the equivelent with an AM2 socket. Then use the leftover cash to get a NVidia 7600GT instead of the 9600

If I get AM2 I'll have to get DDR2 and I can't afford DDR2.

and the 9600XT will play most of my games fairly well with medium settings.

yeah the mobos and CPUS are around the same but RAM is a little bit more spendy for some good ones

and ive never heard of CENTON RAM but you might want to get reliable pair

ya but don't most AM2 mobos only support DDR 667 and 800?

and the stick of Centon RAM I got retails at $140. I got it for $65 so to me, I got a deal on RAM.

Looks really nice.

Although that PSU has dual +12V rails with 20A I still dont trust it. Ecspecially when the case and PSU are only 35 dollars.
