My Final Trial before applying RESTORE DISK

Being so exhausted with the following issue "http://www.computerforum.com/76800-unable-boot-up-computer-help-me.html"

[Summary: Unable to boot up the machine due to "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME ***STOP: 0x000000ED (0x80F51820, 0xC0000032, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) --> make use of the boot up disks but cannot run the "chkdsk" command because "autochk.exe" cannot be located ---> however can run "scandisk" but found no error on the disk.]

I would like to provide some more background details and then ask the final question:

the packard bell doesn't provide any window XP cd to me... I found only currently that they requested us to make a so called "Master CD". However, during the good days, I didn't have any preparation for it.

So now, I don't have any CD-Roms for the "autochk.exe" file to carry on some of the technical suggestion in my original post.

Please advise whether it's possible to make use of any other Window CDs "XP SP1" or "XP SP2" CDRoms (of course having different product key from my installed one) to run the repair console (is the product key necessary for setting this up?) and hence the Chkdsk command?

PLEASE KINDLY HELP! THANKS SO MUCH!

Since you are not going to install Windows with another disk you would simply boot with that to the recovery console by choosing the "R" option for repair. The master boot record and perhaps boot sector information has been changed somehow now seeing errors. The two commands would be the "Fixboot" and "Fixmbr" commands entered there to write a new mbr.

For a repair install that repairs Windows without effecting files, folders, and programs already installed you may be able to use the current recovery disk that came with the system to follow the detailed instructions seen at http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Thanks all.

I could finally boot up my computer successfully, though there are some conflicts stated between the Norton Antivirus and the "Repair Features" (from the warning of Norton)...

anyway now i can back up the important documents and then free to do any repair work.

Thanks again!
