I need a new PC and wanted something small enough to nicely fit on my desk. So here's my selection, please give me some feedback:

Case ROSEWILL MINI ITX RS-MI-01 BK (already bought)

Blue Ray Burner LG WH10LS30 $80

I'm not a gamer, so will I need a video card? I'm using a 37" 1080p LCD TV for my monitor, not sure if it matters. I found GeForce GT 430 for cheap, but not sure which to go with:

This PC will be used for light Photoshop work, Skype, college courses and a bad habit of opening 15 separate web pages at once on Firefox.

Any tips on items to avoid or swap out that are on my list? Or places you think I can save a few bucks? I plan to have the rest of the items purchased by Monday.

Thanks for the help.

250W is quite low, I'm not too sure but I think you might be pushing it to power the GT 430.
Linkin's thread recommends 300W for the GT 430. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than I can offer more information about it.

Wow the parts of your customized computer was amazing but the price are also amazing :D could you please tell me what is the exact size of your desk (i hope there's an actual image)? so that i can give some advice and opinions to your "first build ever computer"

It's an 'L' shaped glass desk with a shelf on one side. Mainly I didn't want my PC on the floor and I don't like a tall case on the desk. That small case can slide under the shelf keeping my desk space open for writing on paper (crazy idea).

It definitely cost more than I'd planned originally. The SSD jumped the cost, but it will cut power consumption and make it a little quicker. Also 8gb of ram might be overkill, I might be able to use 4gb and save some money.

TBH, I kinda wish you came here before buying anything. There may have been other case options to fit the need, allowing you more choices in mb's/psu's/vc. For instance a hd 4200-4290 igp will run 1080p (and higher i think), on your tv. Your mb has 1 slot, and w/ a vc, nothings available for fax modem or any expansion cards.

I'd highly recommend a hdd to compliment your ssd. It will relieve some work the ssd doesn't need to do, and keep it from filling up from the user folders and other storage. A smaller (which would be cheapr) ssd of 60-64gb and a hdd would be ideal. OS/start-up prog's/frequently used programs, on the ssd to benifit from it's speed. Everything else includng storage to hdd.

That looks like the old Shuttles, but even smaller!

Good choices all around (and 250W will be enough), but
I'd go with SATA rather than SSD -- less trouble in the long run. Even two 2.5" X 500GB (7200rpm) with adapter will be quick enough!
Stick with a DVD burner would I (even dbl-layer, if desired) lol!

I've got an old KPC (K48) -- see it here -- http://www.computerforum.com/9727-post-pic-your-pc-here-774.html that uses a 100-240W variable PSU.

And no, you won't need an add-on video card. Stick with onboard for now. Go Green Machines!

Let us know how it goes, literally!

I have 2 external hard drives already, so I figure a small SSD would be fine for holding all my programs.

I was under the impression that the Crucial SSD's were pretty reliable and had the bugs worked out?

I hope I won't need more PCI slots. I haven't bought anything for it yet. I figure I can get the PC up and running and add that later, but I understand space is limited. I wasn't sure what else I would/should add to it.

To be honest I'm in a rush to get it together, which is always a bad idea when building something. I'm also pretty retarded about computer stuff, so that doesn't help. But I want it functional by next Monday (start of some classes).

If you want to use integrated graphics on an H55 chipset you need a processor with integrated graphics. The i5-760 CPU you selected does not include a GPU, so the video ports on the motherboard will not work with this CPU. In the same price range, you can get either the i5-650 or the i5-655K, which are both dual core with an integrated GPU.

If you want to stick with the i5-760 you will need to include a video card.

Good catch, toocrib!
I was thinking all i5 CPUs had integrated graphics! I see here that such is not the case. I learned something. Thanks!

And I learned something also.....

So which graphics card should I get? It must be somewhat low power, but able to give a good 1080p image.
