Go for This
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220363
faster memory for only 5 bucks

And as for GPU
This card which has a bigger memory than gx 275 but lower price and same brand
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130427

and this board will do the job
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186171

so now you have enough money to get a good case or PSU
and you need minimum 550W for this config 500W of such brand wouldnt work properly.
And i would go for a full tower if I were you too much of heat
PSU

10 bucks more but will do the job but isnt future proof as you wont be able to go sli on that gtx 280

Well if you check the corsair PSU finder then he would just need 520W+ PSU
So since he is short on budget i think 550w would do

I agree, but at the same time, I don't think its a good idea to go too low on the PSU. Isn't it always a good idea to leave some head room ? And for 20$ more getting a corsair 650TX would be well worth it IMHO.

Edit: And if he takes the GPU u suggested as well as the RAM u suggested and the mobo combo I suggested along with the 650TX, he saves 50$

So basically I should replace my CPU and Mobo with what Kilauea suggested with the combo and also get the PC power cooling 750w PSU

+1 Anytime buddy ok so if he buys the combo you posted in the previous post he can accomodate
He can go for this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703009
PC power and cooling the best brand of PSU

Go for that psu if you can, btw seasonic makes the pcpower and cooling power supplies, and also makes the antec power supplies:p Just notice at the top link there is a promo code that can save you $10. Post your final list though so we can skim over it one last time for ya;)

Hmmm. From what I read in the review for flamingblade mobo the person said that it could not detect the 1600 mhz RAM.

Well for the RAM, I don't think the GIGABYTE motherboard works with the 1600mhz you suggested so i guess i'll just go for the 1333mhz oh and thanks for the GPU suggestion lol just saved $10 there

Oh I didn't notice that thanks and btw windows xp only supports 4GB of RAM so if I would put all 6GB of RAM would it still work?

Yeah, you may want to think about downloading and burning windows 7 RC x64 to a dvd and trying it out, its 64bit so you would be able to utilize all 6gb of memory, DX10 to utilize directx10 graphics, and best of all its free to use until june 2010;) Also, its quite a bit faster than XP on the sig in my rig, and plenty stable(i run it as my 24/7 os).

Eh..idk i think i might just use 2 of the 3 RAM sticks for using XP instead and you got a really nice computer there lol. Is there by any chance a tutorial for assembling parts for computer for this is my first time actually considering building my own pc

Leave all 3 sticks in, its a core i7 so your running triple channel memory which will be faster than dual channel, and windows 7 would be worth a shot(excellent os). As for a guide:
