I put everything into the case and I have power. Motherboard is lit up, liquid cooling working, and my GTX 295 has a green light. But for some reason my USB ports in the back and front of my case dont work because I plugged in my logitech g15 keyboard and g9 mouse and they dont light up/work. And my monitor isnt working. Everything else is on and working though but the USB ports and monitor doesnt work. So whats the problem?

Motherboard: ASUS Rampage Extreme II X58

Have you made sure everything is plugged in securely?

Both pci-e plugs from your psu to your gpu?

8 pin cpu power plug securely into the board?

24 pin power plug secure?

Have you tried booting with only one stick of RAM in the first slot?

Yep! It was the memory. I took 2 of them out and only have one in so im going to load all the drivers and windows then pop them back in and OC it and etc. Stupid mistake by me! :D

Thanks man

Actually, the reason he suggested booting with one stick is your memory slots on the motherboard could be damaged or you might have one bad stick of memory. I would run a few passes of memtest86 for at least a couple hours each on each stick separately.

Do I do that in BIOS? How do I get to memtest?

I put the 2 memory sticks in again and the monitor didnt come on again and I have installed and updated everything in my computer. But I will try loading the computer with each memory stick to see which one has the monitor on black. If none of them do, what would be the senario then?

Alright I just put each memory stick individually in so I only had one in at a time and everything worked fine for each. So what would be the problem? Is there a way I have to turn on how many memory sticks are supposed to be functional?

My computer also has frozen in Internet Explorer. And its brand new :s

tried reinstalling internet explorer yet? if not try out firefox if both dont work maybe is your windows you prob have to reinstall it again

Hmm...yea im going to try mozilla and start using that. Why cant I have all 3 memory sticks in tho?

And sometimes ill be dling something or going to a page anbd the screen will turn a color and freeze (green, black, etc). Not always the same color...

1. Get one stick of ram. Install in first slot. Boot. Move it to the second slot. Boot. Move it to the third slot. Boot. Move it to each remaining slot and boot each time.

2. Get two sticks. Install in slot one of channel A and slot one of Channel B. Boot.
3. Repeat step 2. With each slot of channel A and B (e.g. slot two and five, three and six, if you have tri channel ram)

4. Try with all ram. Should hopefully work. Some MOBO's randomly need this to be done like to kick start the slots.

Ill go give that a try now. Please standby! :)

Lol should work. I had exact same problem with one of my recent builds... Although never tried with tri channel (which Im assuming you have) only dual channel. But the theory should be the same.

It can take awhile... be patient sometimes you have to repeat the steps a few times to get it too work... Still dont know what actually causes it though.

Alright so I think our memory problem is fixed. I think a couple slots were inactive and wouldnt work. Because I would put an individual memory in a slot and the monitor wouldnt come on, then I would move to the next slot with the same memory stick and it would work. So I just put all 3 sticks in the slots that were working.

BUT, now my next problem. Everytime I try and do anything, at all...for example, I just downloaded Far Cry 2 to see what the machine can do so I click Play Far Cry 2 and the screen goes orange and freezes. Another time this happened was when I clicked on Internet Explorer and it turned green (did this like everytime). Any thoughts on that?

Did my thing work? It takes ages to do it right (like an hour or two at least) but it makes all the slots work hands down... You dont want to just run it in the slots that "work" you want to run it in Tri Channel to get the performance you paid for...

Not to sure on your other problem.. Could even be memory related.

Yea I think it worked. IDK what tri channel is for this mobo. Id have to look it up, but I think it wasnt working that way.

I dont know why my screen keeps freezing on a colored screen

IDK what tri channel is for this mobo.

Install a stick into each of the white slots... or the blue slots... If Im correct (never had a tri channel before so anyone please correct me if im wrong) to use tri channel.

Otherwise your not running the RAM as good as it can..

Yea I think it worked.

If it worked you should be able to use any ram slot now no problems.

Huh? Do it via BIOS... Set the timings first to what your RAM specs are.. You can always overclock later if you want... Look at the Motherboard manual to see how to do it... usually pretty easy.
