well ive posted in a couple other forums about various parts i was having issues finding info about, but this is what i ended up with.
i've looked over these parts, and as far as i know they should all work well together, but i wanted more input in case i misunderstood something, overlooked something, etc. my main concern is the power supply. more experienced members like you guys might be able to help me out with that? ^_^ thanks in advance guys.

Chassis: Antec 900 ATX Ultimate Gaming case

PSU: Athena Power AP-P4ATX55FEC 550w ATX12V

Mobo: ASUS Striker Extreme

CPU: Intel Core Duo E7200

Memory: 4GB DDR2 Low Latency Corsair

CD-ROM/DVD Drive: Lite-on combo black SATA Model DH-52C25-04

Video Card: EVGA GeForce 8800 GS

Hard Drive : Seagate Barracuda ES.2 500GB

With the money you save with the motherboard.....you will need a different graphics card like Ethan3 said. You'll save $160 by going with the P5N-D motherboard. The P5N-D is a very stable motherboard and the BIOS is very user friendly. Right now there are some good deals on the 9800GTX+ and the ATI 4870. Both of these will smash the 8800 GS!

im a bit strapped for cash right now, so a question, will what i have work for now? i did plan to upgrade the PSU and video card later, since the case and other parts should give me some room to work with.
and as far as the mobo goes i may switch to the suggested, still deciding.but i read a review from newegg about it and it said that the computer would lock up and didnt support the 4gb memory, even though it should support up to 8?? or did i misunderstand that?

well that person was probably using a 32 bit OS which has trouble with more than 3gb of ram. i've never heard of a 750i mobo having trouble with 4gb of ram.

yeah what you have now with work, but what i would recommend to actually save money would be to get a 8800gt and get another one later to sli. which will actually beat a gtx260 in performance. and you can stick with that psu if you want and get a corsair 750 watt for $120 later.

veryg ood suggestions guys thanks!
Ethan, the mobo you suggested is definitely more reasonable than the one i had picked out. thank you ^_^
also the power supply you suggested, the 750W Corsair? ill have to keep that in mind for future upgrades, since this is my first build, i want to build it up gradually so i can understand more about it so it wont be such a pain in the butt next time :P

and Mr. Johanssen, the power supply you suggested looks to have better specs, at an even lower price than the one i have picked out does. kudos! :)
ill go with that for now and upgrade the video card and PSU later when i have a bigger budget.

thanks guys!
