Hey everyone! Im new around here and I am interesting in building my own desktop. Basically i was hoping some of you could help me along. ive spent some time looking at different parts and i think i have an idea of the basics i need. So if anyone could give me some feedback on what ive selected it would be greatly appreciated. If everything is compatible and how everything will stand up performance wise. Thanks in advance! :)

Thats a good place to start for a basic computer. "Performance" wise its pretty low. You dont have a Video card or OS in your list so I assume you are using onboard graphics and allready have an OS to install. It will be fine for Internet/email/word processing. Gaming will be out of the question for anything graphically intensive.

Oh yeah, sorry about that. ill be running windows XP and i have a PNY GeForce Video Card (already installed on my current comp. and i dont know model number). I dont really plan to use the PC for gaming, just rather general use. Watching movies, web, email, etc. I currently have a Dell Dimension 4600C slimline, so its getting pretty out of date... im a college student so on a budget i figure this is a cheaper alternative as well as a step up.

Thanks for the input on the CPU, ill def. go for the one you suggested.
