Im plan on building my first computer soon. I am new to this and need all the help I can get. I have a budget around $800. I will be using the comp. to store a lot of music, school, myspace :)/browsing @ a high speed, to play games such as counter strike-age of the empire-war craft- ect., and gfx design. I would like to be able to run multiple programs at a time. This is what I got so far let me know what you think. All your help would be greatly appricated.

I still dont know what gfx card, sound card, case/powersupply I should get.

graphics, youre looking at something like 6600gt or 6800gt to stay within your budget. For a slightly higher price you can get a 7800gt which will give you some future proofing. The case doesnt really matter if its a Midi atx its really based on price/preference. An intergrated sound card should do the job with a decent motherboard.

looks good. like marskib said, get something like 6600gt, 6800gt, or X800GTO.
as for PSU, have a look at PSU 101 to help you decide and usually you want to stay away from the PSU's that come with the case b/c they are generally poor quallity and bad.

Even a better choice than the x800GTO would be an x1600XT, as it supports newer technologies such as Pixel Shader 3.

And as stated above, the integrated sound should do fine. I have the motherboard and it sounds great.

Do you need any optical drives as well?

I'd consider a 6800GS, but that's taking up most of the rest of your budget.

This PSU would just fit into your budget, and with a cheap case, you've got a fine gaming system. Although, if you need optical drives, it'll push you slightly over budget. As everyone's said, integrated sound is fine for most purposes.

the GS is a great card, personally I'd buy it over the x1600xt, although I am an nVidia fan. I've had nothing but good experiences with nvidia.

Even through they are Hard to find (atleast in the UK!) you should try to find an ATI X800 GTO2.

These cards can have their BIOS modified and can be overclocked to X850XT speeds for about half the price- they still can play half life 2 in amazing detail, so CS:S won't be a problem!

That depends what reselution you will be using, and how much detail you want- if your not fussed about grat detail, but want reatability,
get a 6600 GT, pretty good value and last 4 ages (mine has atleast!)

I Think Im Just Going To Stay With The Card I Have Picked Out What Do You Think Of The Rest Of The System? Will It Run Good? Im Planning To Order Once I Make Up My Mind On Everything

Other wise thats a good solid system- mabey a bit of CPU overclocking to open it up and it should be useful for a few years!
