My first computer build, intel i5 set up. ((Help please!))

Don't get a GTX285, it's outdated, power hungry, and doesn't support DX11.
Get a HD 6870 instead. I would have reccomended the sapphire model, but Newegg are out of stock.
CPU choice is good, but IT WON'T work with the motherboard. i5-760 is LGA1156, the mobo you picked is LGA775, they are not compatible. Get This mobo instead, no point getting a 775 processor, its an outdated socket. Get windows 7 x64 bit, it will allow you to take advantage of your 4GB of RAM. Getvthis HDD instead, just as fast, but $20 cheaper. The RAM you picked is an AWESOME deal, how the heck are Newegg giving it away that cheap?!

Apart from that, looks good.

EDIT: The DVD drive you picked can only read discs, get this one instead.
It's SATA too, which is newer than IDE

But i'd get the GTX470 if you want the NVIDIA brand with CUDA and PhysX aswell as the performance since it is better than the 6870 and cheaper than the one fastdude suggested on Newegg. But really both CUDA and PhysX isn't used that much.
Also the HD6870 draws less power and is cooler but with just a bit less performance.

Unless you really need the nVidia stuff (you don't need CUDA for gaming), then I'd go for the 6870.
470 beats 6870 in raw performance 60% of the time, but the slightly cheaper cost, less power usage, and good temps of the 6870 make it a much better buy IMO.

im actually planning on switching to AMD. intel is too expensive. i have a 180 budget on a CPU but preferred a (much) lower bang/buck price so i can buy that Radeon HD 6870 video card. and also a good lower priced bang/buck for a AMD compatible motherboard with a 125 bollar budget. (150 if really needed)
