hi all,

i am looking to purchase my first gaming/ multimedia pc, i have a set up here and i was wondering what would be best? even if it's a completely new setup then that's completely fine! so please voice your opinions :)

750 watt psu,
zalman z11+ case
intel core i5 3570k processor
nvidia geforce gtx 670/ 660
8gb ddr3 memory
asus p8z77- vlx mobo
500gb 7200rpm hdd

i am really sort of clueless, so i'd appreciate any advice possible! thanks, i want good stuff for a reasonable price, but if it means spending a bit more for better stuff i'd happily part with the money, like i said guys i open to any suggestions and i'd much appreciate all of your advice!

thanks guys :)

The PSU seems a bit stronger than what you'd theoretically need , just by looking at the list. I've also heard some unfavorable things about the 660, so if you're choosing between that and the 670, go 670.

take the gtx660ti, which is only a bit slower then the 670.
Also change your psu to a 650watt or something, from brands like corsair, XFX and ocz.
Spend the money then on a better mobo and a bigger hdd (or an ssd if you can affort it)

PSU - Corsair CX 600, maybe TX 650 if you can afford one.

Case - Corsair Carbide 300R

Processor - good, keep with the 3570K

GPU - 660 Ti or Radeon HD 7870 if it's cheaper

RAM - what brand? 8GB is good, you want 1600MHz preferably. I recommend Corsair Vengeance or G.Skill RipJaws-X.

Board - Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H or GA-Z77X-D3H if you can afford it

HDD - good, what make and model is it?

You're going to need a copy of Windows too aren't you? I also see you're missing an optical drive, anything from Samsung or LG or Pioneer or LiteOn will be fine.

Where do you want to buy all this stuff from?

thanks guys for all of your help it is very much appreciated! so you're saying i should take the psu wattage down to about 600/650 and upgrade the mother board? sounds interesting to me, i really like the case, the optical drive isn't necessarily that too big of a problem tbh, you can pick them up relatively cheap, also the OS isn't too big a deal either, i mainly wanted to focus on the main physical components, which you have all helped me with hugely, what sort of mother board precisely works best for that processor? is it worth bothering with the intel 'K' motherboards like the DZ77GA- 70K one? because i believe they suit that processor best? at least that's what is says on the intel site, but they'd say anything to get you to spend a bit more -_-... what about cooling too? the case comes with a few fans in it, is it worth putting a few more, because i want the pc to last a good 5 years+

Cheers :):D
