Ok, thanks for the help dude :) have i missed anything?. With that kind of ram would it make multi tasking easy? eg. alt tabbing from a game. My previous specs were:

2.0ghz intel p4
geforce fx6600 gt pro agp
1 gig kingston ram
80 gig maxtor HDD
40 gig hdd

how much of a difference will this new pc make compared to my current?

if i were you man i would go with a full tower not a midi tower...you'll get much better cooling in a full tower with alot more space

A very noticable difference,like..very very noticable, you didnt miss much, but amds are not great or multitasking but this would honestly kill your old configuration.I do honestly suggest you try and get money for a dual core build because they are the near future so..yeah.But if yo ucant, you're okay and good to go.

and i dunno if you just want it for the heck of it or not but the 20 to 24 pin adapter cable isn't necessary...i had to check on that before i commented...the motherboard has a 24 pin connector and so does the PSU so you could save a few bucks by taking that off

I just don't understand why you are buying tech that's like two years old...? AMD64 is a thing of the past, big time. It still works, but there's so much better out there.

I would really suggest getting AM2 and going for a lower end single core or a X2 3600+
