My graphics card is upside-down? O.o

Hi.
So I built my first computer a few weeks ago. Everything works fine, and it's all been great so far. Both my graphics card and monitor support HD, so I thought I'd try it out, so I borrowed my brother's cable (I hadn't thought of this when buying all of my parts), and tried to plug it in.... When I did, it seems like the port for the HDMI cable is too close to the computer case for it to be able to go into the port straight, so i can't plug it in.
I noticed that the engraving on the back of the graphics card (The part that the ports are in) that lables each of the ports is written upside down....
The fan on the graphics card is pointing down.... I don't understand how it could be upside down, because it plugs in perfectly the way it is, but I have no clue what's wrong..... If I could turn the graphics card upside down, it would be far away enough from any part of the case for it to interfere with it... I was thinking that maybe the graphics card has a mini HDMI port, but the port seems to be just the right size for a regular HDMI... As you may be able to tell, I am not very technically savy, so it's kinda hard for me to figure out just what the problem is.
It's not a huge deal, it would just be nice to be able to use my graphics card to its fullest potential.

Here are the parts I have:

Graphics card:
GTX 550 Ti

Case:
CoolerMaster Haf 912

MoBo:
gigabyte 970a-ud3

all other parts seem irrelevant with this problem, and I'm not even sure the MoBo is......
Any help is much appreciated. Thank you in advance

what cale were you usind before, if dvi then truly there is no visible difference in them, it's just the resolution that must be changed.

I have a gtx 465 and the fan on it points down. I beleive my 9800 gtx also pointed down. If I have both dvi ports used I don't have enough room for the hdmi cable to fit (unless I shave the plastic off the cable/adapter).

EDIT: Just looked up the EVGA card, and it has a mini hdmi port.

........Grade A stuff.

If you could take a picture of what you are talking about, that would be helpful. It kind of sounds like you get a defective card.

Lol..... Okay so I couldn't figure out how to attach pictures here, so I just made a photobucket acct and put them there.... You'll figure out what they are.. :P

Does it look normal?
You can't tell from the pictures very well, but like i said, the labels for what each port is are upside down.

It's normal. You might not have enough room for a mini hdmi cable with the dvi cable there, but just use the other port and it should be fine.

No, I took out the DVI cablewhen I tried to plug it in......
The HDMI cable won't fit, even when there is nothing else plugged in.
Wait, so it's definitely a Mini HDMI?
