So here is my problem. I have this computer for almost a year and a half now and everything was fine untill today. I boot up the pc and everything is fine. I go do something else for 10 minutes but when i come back my graphic card doesn't seem to post. I hear the sound of windows booting up but nothing appears on the screen. I have to plug the hdmi cable in the hdmi port of my motherboard in order to use my computer. I am really worried that my card may be dead. Does anyone know what is the problem ? Also the cable works and the screen too. Could it be the hdmi port on my graphic card that is broken ?. Thanks for your answers.

My pc
Graphic card : Evga gtx 970 sc
Cpu : intel core i5 4460
Psu: Rosweill hive 550w

Your card probably died. Check to make sure power connectors are securely attached to card.

If you have a different cable (DVI or displayport) and your monitor supports that output, try to see if that will give you a screen.

If you can hear windows booting up but with no screen, that could be an indication that your HDMI port on either your monitor or your video card went kaput. You did mention however that hooking up the monitor to your onboard graphics work, then it's most likely your video card. Again, test with a different cable (DVI or displayport cable and NOT another hdmi cable) and see if you get a display or not.

If not, then it's something else that is causing this. If yes, RMA your card.

If you bought it new, you still have warranty. The 970 came out last year... EVGA cards typically have a 3 year warranty*.

*3 year warranty is applicable during registration on their website within 30 days of purchase I believe. You should check on their website and contact their support to see what your options are.
