I took out one of my hard drive to use it as a "flash card" for my new computer.
It is 60GG but when I plugh it in through the usb it has a capacity of only 10 GG. I formated the drive though. Doesn't make any sense
Any thoughts appreciated

hi there. i tried but it didnt change anything.
however, someone asked me to click on disk management and this came up:

says disk 1 basic 37.25GB (which makes sense since its a 40GB drive not 60 as i thought)
E: 10.01 GB NTFS ................................... the small window next to it it says:
Healthy (Active) ....................................... 27.24 GB
.................................................. ................. Unallocated

do i have to allocate it manually?
thank you very much

Ok left click on the drive to highlight it and then right click on it.

In the box that opens click New Partition, once a new partition has been created format it.

Your best bet is either reinstall windows and only make it one partition since its only a 40 gb drive or invest in a larger hard drive. Making 2 partitions on a 40 gb drive doesn't make any sense, you will run into issues with running out of space very quickly.

its working now thank you very much!!
not quite sure what i did though. in dis management i right clicked the 10GB window (or partition) and deleted it. but then the drive wouldnt show up anymore on "computer".went to disk management right clicked the other window (partition) which said 37GG and formated it. now its working thank u!! saved me money

appreciated
