hi,
my hp dv2000 laptop is unable to turned on.i don't know the reason.may i know which device is problem either battery or hardware? can any body assist me regarding this problem.

well first always check the power brick if you have a volt meter check the output on the brick labeled on the back then check the readings from the plug that goes into the board i think it should be around 19 might be different for your brick but make sure its putting out the right amount ive seen alot of the hp dv2 and dv6 power bricks go bad so thats where i would start.

Also when you plug it in on the side whre it plugs in is there a blue light or on the front there should be a light indicator telling you its getting power do either of those light up.

if you know that brick is good and know how to tear it apart you could also check the dc jack on the board if that is fine.

All this is based on if your not getting any power from the laptop if it powers on but no video it could be a number of problems, motherboard, ram even a bad battery you could try pulling the battery completely.

you have one the worst models (not as a computer, but by the warranty and amount of hardware failures it will have) unfortunately, I'm guessing it's well out of warranty.

Might i suggest you search the same problem you are having on google, i'm sure people have fixed it at home.

He's right. I googled it, and look at all of the people with your problem and exact same computer: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=hp+dv2000+laptop+will+not+turn+on

i have to fix at least 4 of the dv2000-9000 series at work every day. horrible line.

however, some are simple fixes. if the power supply isnt blown, try swapping out some ram sticks. bad memory slots is a popular fault on those models. next id try getting a 19 v 4.74 amp power supply and try it, some of them just wouldnt power up with the 18.5 3.5 but would work great with the 19 4.74

You should start step by step troubleshooting. check first power on switch, heck battery check your power cables and adapter, check power supply voltages.
