My son unplugged all the cords from my computer and blew out the inside of the case with comoressed air. He may have removed and replaced a memory card. He then put it all back together and plugged everything back in.
Since then, I have not been able to log in.
The computer will start up normally when the power is turned on and behaves normally up until it reaches the user log in screen. I have a cordless mouse & keyboard. Neither will respond. I have tried changing the batteries in both, made sure that the dongle is plugged into the usb port and made sure that both were synced.
I have also plugged a corded usb mouse into the usb ports and tried to use that. It did not work either. I borrowed a corded mouse & keyboard from work and plugged them into the round connectors on the computer. Neither of these worked either.
I have no further ideas of what could be wrong or what to try. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any ideas?
The computer is a HP Pavilion.
Thanks for reading and I'd appreciate any help or ideas.

I had an HP years ago and anytime I added or removed hardware, the USB keyboard and mouse would not work. I usually just let it run for about 10 minutes and it would function normally again. Try using a USB corded keyboard. If that doesn't work use a PS/2 corded keyboard.
