My laptop doesn't work

Hi.
I am a new member of this forum. I have a simple question about my old lap top.

I have HP Compaq nx9420 which I bought in 2006. I changed several parts already but now it just doesn't want to turn-on. The power indicator blinks the same as if the battery was low even if I still have plugged it to the cable.

Battery's been bad for 3 years now so I always need to use cabe.
My question to you guys is, is that the battery issue that doesn't supply enough power or is that computer issue, so it'd be pointless to buy new battery or change another part in the computer and I reather buy myself a new one?
What do you think?

after a while all laptops will do that, i would just say it is from old age, because it sounds like the power source isnt able to reach and power the motherboard. Buying a new battery wont work if the laptop dosnt work without the battery and just using ac power.
These issues usually cost more then just replacing the laptop these days.
post a thread if you decide to buy a new laptop and i will help finding the right laptop for you and your budget.
