My LCD has a burned image in it?

I have a 32inch Vizio that was bought in 2010 and it already has a burned image on the screen. I thought LCDs were not supposed to do this? Burned pixels? Looks like I will have to join the market for a new one.....been wanting to get something bigger anyway.

The burned image appears to be getting worse as well.

What you can try to do is make a screensaver that is an all white screen and leave that on when the computer is idling. The white screen might not completely remove the burned image but it should help lessen its intensity.

Or try installing this: StaticTV. It's a StaticTV screensaver. Swap the colour settings so it has white background and black static and leave it to run overnight. It should give the pixels a workout.

Yea thats what I read about doing. Its good that it doesnt appear to actually stay like CRTs used to. I used to have another image burned into this LCD, the GTA mini map :) but it went away.

Id love to try those things, but the only time Im not using my TV is when Im at work. And Im not sure if 12 hours is really long enough but its worth a try. Maybe if I do it for 12 hours a day for a week my TV will be like new.

Its only a $200 TV so Im not too worried. Its been well worth the money since Iv had it.

Can't blame you for burning the mini map into the screen!

From the bit of research I did into this, 12 hours should be long enough to make a difference. Even better if it's done more than once.

Yup. Well....I was too lazy to get the staticTV screensaver thing so I just plugged in my antenna and turned it to a static channel and left it on and no more burned image! However, there is still a dark spot on my screen that Im not sure will ever go away...Im thinking its dead pixels. But do LCDs get dead pixels? I was pretty sure there is something in the manual about this TV saying it doesnt get dead pixels.

Maybe they are not dead pixels but stuck ones?

How large is the darkened area? Could be a backlight issue I suppose

Well, to keep the heat down Iv always kept the backlight at 0. Its bright enough for me I dont really need it. Its a good size area. But its only noticeable when certain colors/brightness is on the screen. Other times its completely absent. Even with white you cant really see, seems to only appear with darker colors oddly.
