my apologies in advance if this is the wrong place for such a post, but here it is. i recently just built my own computer with all kinds of parts. antec case, corsair ddr2 ram (4 gigs), intel dou core 2 3.16 GHz chip, seagate 250 gig hd, an nvidia 512 ddr3 video card, etc. i threw in a pair of old cd drives, and thats about it. but my problem is i cant make it do stuff, basically. it turns on, the fans are working, any usb devices light up, but i cant input anything. its stuck on a screen with the following:

American Megatrends
AMIBIOS 2006 American megatrends inc
P35T-A Release 06/12/2007
CPU: Intel Core 2 CPU E8500 @ 3.16 GHz
Press F11 for BBS POPUP (F11 on Remote Keyboard)
The MCH is operating with DDR2 800/CL5/Tras18/Trp5/Trcd5
Single Channel mode
American megatrends inc

i checked and rechecked everything, it all appears to be plugged in, but the cd drive wont read, but it opens and pretends its reading the win xp installer disk. all of the fans and the cpu cooler are working just fine. but ive tried 2 keyboards, one usb and one regular one, but niether can input anything and they both show the caps lock button on. and ive switched out the hard drive with the one im currently on, but it doesnt appear to have any effect. ive tried knoppix in the cd drive to see if i could load anything, but it wont do it. what did i forget to do? ;_; the hard drive that im trying to use is blank. tyvm in advance for the help.

I would suggest going into the BIOS menu to make sure you have the boot priority set properly. do you have a SATA connection for the optical drive or a IDE connection? You might have to set those options differently in the BIOS as well.

oh and if you have 4 gigs of ram, make sure you seated them in the same color brackets on the motherboard and your BIOS is set so that you get a dual channel effect going (it says single channel on the message you posted there)

my problem is that i cant make my keyboard work at all. im not sure how to get into the bios. i assume its f11, but my keyboard wont let me input anything. im using ide for the optical drive and sata for the hd

i figured it out. i didnt do enough research and got a crappy asus board. i just got a new one. problem solved!
