My monitor shuts off

Recently my monitor has started to to just turn off on me, i will be doing something on the computer the monitor goes black and LED turns orange. I do the usual like you would to turn the monitor back on, like shake the mouse and hit keys on the keyboard. The only way for me to fix it is to restart to system, but the problem still occurs. I suspect that my video card might be dying, but would like some feedback.
 
Well, it could be your video card or it could be your monitor. Switch out the video card and see if it still continues. If it does, swap out the monitor and replace the video card with the original, and see what happens.
 
Same happened to me. My video card was bad.

I thought it was getting too hot, so I removed the heatsink and reapplied thermal paste and still no luck.
 
i almost had the same problem.
my monitor turned purple.
but there was no problem with the video. i guess it was because of the speakers, especially the subwoofer which was near monitor.
 
I had the same problem; turned out to be the monitor. Don't know if worth fixing with the prices of LCDs so low these days. Fortunately, I had another one sitting around.
 
Thank you guys for all your help, the problem is that i don't have another video card or monitor to test this with.
