I snagged a decent looks like a 17''. LCD sony.
Earlier, around new years eve *06* It got trashed. With like...soda or something.

Now. Today. It looks brand new. Hasnt been touched since it was replaced.

What are my odds of it being ok? It needs a vga cord.

Ill take pictures.

Thanks

I'm confused...the one that got trashed looks okay? Or the replacement looks okay? I can't see any reason why the replacement wouldn't work, unless it's been stored somewhere that could have damaging properties (high humidity, high heat, etc).

The damaged one would look dry, it's had a while to, well, dry. However, if things like soda (which is an acid and hence corrosive) got into the monitor, it probably isn't in too good a condition. But you can plug it in and power it on, as long as its dry it can't hurt it...

Is there a way of fixing it. If hat were to happen?
I plugged the power in, and it said vga not plugged in. The window looked perfect.

Ill see what I can do tomorrow to see the whole screen.

Thanks

If it's damaged, there's not really a way to fix it, but since it powered up fine and said VGA not plugged in, my guess is it's alright. That is unless the VGA and/or DVI ports are fried, but that's pretty unlikely.

A common misconception about electronics is that if it gets water/liquid in it, its fried. Its only fried if the water shorts the electronic, so if it wasn't on when it got water in it, providing that the water/liquid didn't harm the insides at all (rust or corrosion), just let it dry out fully and it'll be fine.

I switched it with my main monitor.
I am on it atm.
It looks A LOT better then it did.
Just like small...white...pearl colored patched on the bottom.

It'll do for a secondary monitor.

And two lines going from top to bottom on the far right...Only noticeable when not on a white page

!

Thanks
