My mouse will not respond

Hello,

I have a Dell desktop computer and it is only 3 months old. Every once in a while my mouse will not stop working. It shows the pointer on the screen, but when I click any item it will not respond. I will then hit ctrl-alt-del and then just click cancel when the task manager comes up and everything goes back to normal. Any ideas?

connection in motherboard was dirty

Does this occur while you are running programs that require significant amounts of power or just randomly ?
