My new build!

Greetings geeks of Computerforum . com! :D

I am a first time builder, and i have concluded with this setup for my new build. I will use some components i got from my 3 year old gaming computer. Please give me some advise as this is my first real build :)

Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 Deluxe Socket-1155

CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 570 "Superclocked". I am going to do a SLI setup in the future.

CPU COOLER: Cooler Master V8

RAM COOLER Corsair DOMINATOR Airflow Fan

Harddrives: Corsair SSD Force Series 3 120GB and Seagate Barracuda 2TB

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB, 12GB or 16GB (?)

DVD-rom: Sony Optiarc Blu-Ray Writer

Case: Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced Windowed

Fans: 3x 120mm fans
3x 140mm fans
1x 80mm fan

Operative System: Windows 7 Ultimate

The problem is that i haven't figured out if my old 750W PSU will do the job. I am terribad with math, but i have come down to (I believe) that it will work. Please spread your knowledge about this :)
I am also planning to overclock the CPU to about 4.5Ghz or 5Ghz. The GPU was stock overclocked :)

Thanks in advance! Please say something if you would change any components!

We prefer geeks, not nerds. :P

8GB of ram is enough for games. Even your CPU is overpowered. You could get an i5-2500k instead and get the same framerates and overclockability compared to the 2600k. Only difference between the i7 and i5 is that the i7 has hyperthreading, so it has an additional 4 virtual cores. No games would take advantage with those.

What make and model is the power supply? If it is a quality brand, that is enough power.

Thanks for the reply! I changed it to geeks, i apologize :P

It's a Corsair TX 750W PSU, used since 2009 :)

Also, what is most prefered of the two (keep my build in mind):

A Cooler Master V8 or Corsair H100? Never had any experience with water cooling before :)

That corsair unit is very good and will be able to handle this system.

As for coolers, water cooling will allow you to get to higher overclocks. That being said, a good air cooler works to. As you can see, I have my 960T running at 3.7Ghz compared to 3Ghz stock with a CM hyper 212+. That's with no voltage increase and it maxes at 35c.

Water cooling is nice, but expensive. I have no experience in using it, but the H100 is a very popular choice and has great reviews.

I have also read that the CM 690 Advanced II got seriously good air flow. So i think i will stay away from water cooling, maybe in my next project :) What air coolers do you recommend?

One more thing, is it smart to change out ultimate to home premium? Got some CD's lying about, so it won't cost be a thing.

Ultimate is unnecessary for the common users. The difference between home and ultimate are language packs and tools for businesses.

I of course recommend the Coolermaster hyper 212+. It is big, but gives me, and my 2 friends who have it, great temps. Options to add an additional fans to blow air away from it. It seems like too good of a deal, but its an excellent cooler.

Sorry for the late reply, haven't been home for a while.

Okay, sounds good :) Will save some cash there. By the way, is there a cheaper choice than Corsair SSD Force Series 3 120GB? In Norway it cost 210$, quite expensive :(

And are there anywhere else i can save some money in this rig? :P

Thanks for all the answers!
