.....with one computer out of the box.....

I orderd a 9100 Pentium D and a week later they discountinued the line....

The integrated sound card does not work
A dedicated sound card ( I used 2 of them) will not work)
The side door has come off and will not go back on.
The plastic facing on the front keeps falling off
The start up changes with each boot up

Is this why I bought a Dell? I have to get my money back and move on.

Called technical support and they wanted to charge me for the call.....I hung up....and they are dead to me.

I've never heard of that happening on a dell, although the start-up changes have to do with microsoft, not dell. How much did they want to charge you for the call? i would try e-mailing them or use live help (if they have it), just to see what there response is.

I think I would prefer to sellit for $1000 take a $1000 loss and buy...

a different computer.

Who makes the best in the $2000 to $3000 Pentium D 2 gig Ram range?

Right now my head is not into this one....anyone want it?

I am also a hater of Dell. Just return it, get your money back, and buy from a diffrent company. Either build it yourself or try www.ibuypower.com www.alienware.com www.falcon-nw.com or www.voodoopc.com

What makes Alienware, Voodoo and Falcon worth so much $$$$

I mean $3-$4 and $5k...are they that great?

What is the best High performance Dual Core computer that will not be used for gaming?

Thank you

Elliot

voodoo pc and alienware are great computers but overpriced. ibuypower is a great deal and if u can build it urself defeinitly do that. try goin online and getting the live chat support with dell, works much better and its faster.

Well the thing about Dells is they have a warranty that you cant avoid (1 year is the baseline if i recall?) So why dont you get them to fix it? (they wont take it back AFAIK but they have to fix it for ya)

Like Bob said alienware and Voodoo PC make really high quality stuff- It'll probably last forever without breaking- but you really do get what you pay for. We are talking like $3000 or up for a high quality one.

As far as Dell....I will sell at a loss...no problem....you don't treat people....

like that.

I remember having 30 Dells in the company that I owned and service was great.....those days are gone and this one is pure plastic and CHEAP!!!!!

I just gace away my DELL laptop and bought an IBM T-43....when I clean the house, I clean the house...By the way the IBM notebook is the greatest laptop I have ever seen.....by far.

Now it is time for me to move on.....I cannot see Voodoo at $4k because I don't buy computers for a lifetime....I want new every 12-18 months.

So $2500 +/- for a non gaming 3.0 dual core 2 gig and 256 video card should get me something from some company......

ABS? or is Ibuy that good?

Thank you

Elliot

1. ABS is a good brand, no personal familiarity with Ibuy
2. With the savings you can get, i would strongly urge you to build your own or even contract a small computer store to build a custom one for you -- the cost of labour and shipping there will be much less than the price you pay for a "brand name" system :)

I break out in a sweat when I see a screwdriver.....so building it is not an option

....but I have reached a point to know that Dell and HP et al are not the holy grail....
