my new project.:: project elementus: updated today!

right, so im building a nice project for myself :)

i called it project elementus as im using wood, water and electricity :D

fingers crossed my house doesnt burn down!
:P:P:P
im not a noob but when it comes to complete custom builds, this is my first. so please be fair on the reviews!! :D

what im building!
well its a watercooled high end, wooden case computer.

what it contains!
a LxWxH 2ftx2ftx1ft wooden case.
i bought a 12x8 sheet of mdf wood and carved this baby out of it.
bought a 4ftx2ft sheet of plexiglass and am using this for the windows and the lid.

the components:
asus striker 680i motherboard.
intel qx6700 processor. ( im lapping it as we speak so pics to follow! :)
4gb mushkin redline 8000 memory. ( way to expensive to buy 8gb )
ocz ram cooler.
2 x 8800gt with modded cooler's.
3xdvd burner's. 2 with lightscribe.
akasa fan controller and card reader.
3 x 500gb drives.
4 x 1tb drives.
1 150gb raptor.

watercooling:
bought this from a friend and got a great price.
dual 120mm fan rad
swiftech pump
thermochill res
and so on...

ive worked on the case for almost 2 weeks now.
granted i didnt have a huge varitety of tools, but what can ya do!
i used: a jigsaw, chopsaw, hand saw, orbital sander, fine grain sander and some various odd bits and pieces.
all i had to work on was a small table and 2 stools.
2 small g clamps.
tell ya i lost my patience so many times with it!

MDF IS NOT GREAT TO WORK WITH!! ARGHHHH! it chips like a chipper! :P

i have pics of the case being made, but i cant get my bluetooth to work on my laptop so ill have to update that a bit later on.
so here's some pics of the case as it is now.

so its not finished yet, and long way off... but... im off now for a few days and then i got some holidays coming up. hopefully the new gear i ordered will arrive on monday or tuesday and it will let me finish a lot more off.

looking good so far!

so what ya think?

edit: i know i made a few small screw ups... cracked plexi glass, the akasa reader is broken etc.
the dvd drives are crooked in the pic, but its been sorted out now.

also, the black felt around the case is fireproof/and keeps the vibrations low. its excellent stuff!!
its the same stuff people use under floorboards. very cheap and so easy to use.

i plan to. just called home, so far leak test on the wc gear is still perfect. when i get home from work tomorrow im gonna rig it into the comp and see how it goes.
and hopefully the new gear will arrive!

more pics to come soon :)

That last picture looks sweet!

slow down! the watercooling isnt in yet! :D

Wow, NICE!
I think I might do something like that now lol.
Save a bit on the case xD

all the case/plexiglass cost me was a total of 50 euro. not too bad at all!
worst thing was sourcing decent tools and getting time to do it.

wow that takes skill and patience good job man.

cheers :D still lots to be done. ill update tomorrow when i get more pics and make more progress.

gotta love the look of the uv coolant. great design and the name fits it perfect

i had it a lot bluer but didnt suit and it caused a lot of bubbles with too much antifreeze.
i might re-do it and use some other type of dye in it. just need to see what its like when its in the case.

very small update. found 2 more pics on the camera.

girlfriend called me and told me is the stuff on the table in the jug safe to drink?

lol :D de-ionised water and antifreeze hmmmmmmm

oh this is what i drank last night when rigging the watercooling up !!

i think some beer got into the res tho :P

its mdf. its made here in my home town in ireland.

its like plywood made of layers. very nice to use but very easy to split open.

That looks pretty awesome, man!

Nice job! :D

I noticed you have the OCZ XTC RAM cooler, I've heard it's pretty loud, is it any good?

You got any more pictures of it?

Its not that loud, running it @ 5 V is inaudible and @ 12 V it is no louder than any other standard fan :)

update :D
got everything inside the case now.

watercooling is up and running and uv lights are inside the case.

replaced the stock cooler on the 8800gt! it looks sweet!!
