My first attempt was like, and intel MB and a amd CPU, and all kinds of stuff that wouldnt fit together. My second is close to the one i am going to list here but i think slightly worse for about the same amount of money (both came out to 2k)
Im hoping that this would be good enough to run any game, even crysis! My plan is to buy an entire computer, (since the only thing i have is a laptop)
But im in the military and deployed and there is almost no way for me to get a little extra help in building a computer from either forums (most are blocked on our internet, and i bet this one will be blocked soon so i need info quick! lol) or from people i know who know alot about computers (and i know one, and he isnt the greatest).
Anyways, here it is. Any suggestions on making it cheaper without making it worse, or for improving it without making it too much more expensive. My max is probably about $3k but i thought my setup here was pretty spiffy.

Some afterthoughts on this. Originally i had a quad core processor that ran at 2.4 ghz, but i figured quad core is not utilized too much yet, so i figured ill get the dual core with 3.0 ghz. They both cost the same though, and im really not sure at all whats faster or better or what.
Also with the memory, i had 4gigs of ddr2 memory, but i figured do i really need 4 gigs? So i changed it to 2 gigs of ddr3 memory which is apparently at least 200% better than ddr2 so i figure that also is a good upgrade.
And lastly, the video card. From what i have read the 8800 geforce ultra is the best, with the gtx slightly behind it. I originally had 2 9600 gts's but then i found out that it is not as good as the 8800 gtx. Well if i have the 9600's in sli, will they be better than one 8800 gtx? If so, would it be smarter to get two 8800 gtx's instead? I know it costs alot more though, but just for performance purposes per se.
And lastly lastly last, do i need more cooling? Like water cooling. Is that something i would have to see when i put my computer together and then make that decision, or can you tell from just what i have here if i would need better cooling or not?
Well thanks alot in advance for any help i can get from you guys and gals!
Sorry for the large wall of text to read
