my OC

i finally got the hang of it, finally! i have got it stable at 2.82Ghz, is this a reasonable score? Is there anyway i go go higher without it crashing?

thanks

Have you upped the volatages? If not, do so, but you mght need a better HSF (not sure how good yours is).

For a beginning overclock thats pretty decent. Make sure that you have like your HTT multiplier and stuff set to the correct setting so your bus speed is under 1000, tweak with your vcore (if you want to) and mem dividers and such.

is it a 3800+ Venice core CPU or so? I mean, the 3800+ X2 runs much slower ( sorry if thats a stupid question :o )

anyhow, i make 2.7GHz on my 3000+,.. after that, it went unstable,.. so its a pretty nice overclock you have ( but i think you can get it a little further :) )

try incrementing the values by 1 until your pc cant boot. from 2.4ghz to 2.8ghz isnt much i cant OC an Intel upto +1Ghz

but keep also in mind that the core has its limits.. For example, a 3000+ Venice (if you're lucky on getting a 'good'oc core :) )can be overclocked a lot more than a 4000+venice. because at a certain point, the heat is the limit, or it'll simply start running unstable.

some problems that might occur when you OC

1. Board and CPU heats up fast(you need to cool it)
2. UNstable windows operation (you can experience frequent hangs)

i can push it furhter but its the ram, i cant get the hang of overclocking it. if i up the FSB anymore it starts to crash. can someone help me out? the type of ram is in my sig.

thanks

I personally wouldn't recommend upping the vcore, especially if you're new to OC'ing. Voltages can do crazy things to electrical components, especially processors. Not to mention that extra voltages will decrease the life of your processor.

and the shorter lifespan? who cares? The processor will be outdated before it dies (even with overvolting it) anyway ;)
