hello

i would really appreciate some help
i have an old computer, its works ok
but i was thinking of some upgrades

i know its an old computer but i still want to keep using it
for a while longer

these are the specs:

processor : intel celeron 500 mhz
L2 cache : 128 kb
memory : 152 mb
mainboard : acer v76m
video card : sis 620

bios : Acer Version 3.2
audio : Integrated 16-bit SoundBlaster® Compatible audio (ESS Solo1)
hard drive : 8 gb
o s : windows 98 se

so what upgrades could i realistically
make to my old pc?

thanks

There's not really too much you can do...you can throw some more RAM in there (mobo has a max of 256mb), and you could get another video card in there, but if you don't have AGP, you'll have to get a PCI video card, and there really aren't too many good PCI video cards.

Most upgrades to a PC that old aren't really gonna be cheap or worthwhile, I think. If you're still bent on them, though, my own two cents would be to add RAM and perhaps a bigger hard drive.

My dinosaur became an experimental POS, I did some crazy stuff to that thing. Anyway, there is not much to do with that, I work with a lot of businesses with a lotta ancient artifacts and that isn't the first time I have heard that question. I had one that had PC like that and they wanted me to put a new Core 2 Duo in it, enough said. cough cough..haha..cough

lol

well thanks guys

i think i might add more ram
but if i did get a new pci video card
what kind of card could i possibly use

im still not ready to say goodbye to my dinosaur

:(

Why upgrade that door stopper? It should be used in the only task its fit for, a door stopper or a really really heavy paperweight :P

Well one thing you could do is buy a harddrive, that you can carry with you to the next machine :)
