My old computer....

Ok, so i just bought some parts for my old computer, it need a new processor (socket 478) so i bought a $50 2.4C Northwood with a 200mhz FSB and HT and i bought a 550watt powersupply by Antec.

My question is, when i had my cheap 400watt X-Connect powering my old computer, my graphics card would often artifact alot, but it wouldnt perform bad. It was wierd. I thought it was cuz it wasnt getting enough power.

Is 550watts enough for a 6800nu AGP, P4 @ 2.4ghz, and a single stick of 512mb ram?

I might sell the computer once i get it working correctly, im gonna install Vista on it.

if you are going to install Vista on it, you might notice a lag. Since Vista alone need 512MB for all the eye-candy.

the Antec 550W should be enough i suppose...

Do you guys think that my old 400watt X-Connect cheapy(the PSU im using with my current computer) was causing my 6800 to artifact though? Thats what im most worried about. It only did it in 3D apps, it was fine on the desktop.

Easy way to tell - is it still happening with the new PSU?

In any case, any new Antec 550W unit is more than sufficient for that system.

Well, i havent received the parts yet to do any testing....but i will asap as i will pry use that computer more then this one if that 6800nu works correctly as it should well outperform this 7300 in anything. Scored 3.7k in 3DMark 05 with that card at stock speeds! I think i might upgrade the ram, just another 512 stick in dual channel...

I dont wanna put TOO much money into my old computer since it is outdated, but it isnt a bad computer.

This is the PSU i bought:
