Please don't post three comments all in a row. You have an edit button at the bottom of each post if you want to add anything before anyone replies.

Have you read all of Overclocking 101? If you have you're a faster reader than I am...

Buying a better-than-stock cooler would help, but your limitation will be your cpu and motherboard more than anything.
but if this one dye we wil lge ta new one
Try and check what you're typing before you post. :)

i cant use teh clock gen it isnt worcking and everytime i load up the sys tools it doesnt worck so i will have to do it manually how ever i would do that i am clooless in the cpuz it says my prossesors name is katmai?

That edit button again....

If you have questions about overclocking after reading the 101, we can do our best to answer them for you.

However I should stress that anyone without knowledge first is likely to damage components, possibly more than your dad is willing to replace.

im shure he will want to replcae this old peice of shit it is from 1998 basicaly i wana know how i would basically over clock it says stuf fabout changing the multipliers but how do i know what they are are they one the mobo

Ok, then fire away with your questions about the 101.

And in answer to your question, Katmai was the name of the first of the Pentium III's. Read this, second paragraph entitled 'Pentium III Cores'.

Did you buy your computer prebuilt or did you build it?

Guess not :P

IF it was prebuilt, looks like your up a creek without a paddle my friend. I highly doubt you can OC it. Try and check the BIOS anyways.

Perhaps it was stuck to the underside of the cooler???

In all seriousness, this is a forum, not an instant messaging service. You'll have to be patient for a response.

PC's don't run at all without a CPU. It's there somewhere. Trust me.

ya i found it it is in an agp slot for some reason and is side ways the cpu slot is empty tho and no it wasnt pre built it was custom built but along time ago

getting almost 100% overclock seems like it would be hard to do.
in fact, i know a guy whos using vapochill and he only got a 72% overclock.
seems to me like you would need some damn good cooling to o/c from 550 to 1000mhz.
maybe 650 or 750mhz would be more reasonable. push it as far as you like though! :)
