my pc doesn't turn on

hi ..

i have a Dell optiplex GX270 cpu currently running with windows xp OS servicepack 3version. pentium 4 processor 2.80 Ghz RAM 1GB and 2.79 GB.


whenever i try to boot my system,it says the following :

" a disk read error occured . Press alt+ctrl+del to restart "

i tried alt +ctrl+del to restart but it again gives me the same message after rebooting..what should i do?

pleas e help me...
 
check that the cables from your hard drive is firmly attached to the MB,it might have come loose Also check the power plug to the drive.
 
its always a good idea to keep S.M.A.R.T enabled, it tell you if your HDD is dieing and is dead, turn i on and see if it says anything, if not them it prob the power or data cable it not connected properly.
