My pc will not boot up to the cmos setup screen or windows :( . Their is no image on my monitor, its blank. The lights are on, the fans are working, the hard drive whirls for a bit and then stops and thats it  .

Try this

Try disconnecting the HDD and booting up. You should get to the BIOS screen. If not, then there are many possible problems that come to my mind. My friend had a simmilar problem and it turned out to be the motherboard. However, it is hard to tell what the culprit could be in this case without any further details.

"The lights are on, the fans are working, the hard drive whirls for a bit and then stops and thats it"..if your HD stops spinning its dead but still your pc not booting is not the HD...Jancz3rt is right its difficult to tell who is the culprit...try removing devices one by one..modems,graphic cards, rams etc..to see where problem lies..

Yep first unplug the hdd and boot up seeing if you can boot to bios. If you cannot, try resetting the CMOS and then re-try booting into bios again. If you can get to bios either way, try plugging the hdd in one more time, making sure that power plug is firmly in place. If you're saying that the hdd only whirls for a moment and stops, it could be a bad hdd at that point. Are there any beeps when the computer starts up? Do you have a video card? Is it firmly in place? It could also be a video card issue now that I think about it.

You could end up having to get a new motherboard, hdd, video card or all of the above. Good luck!

No there are no bleeps when the computer starts up. I can't get into cmos or bios.

Do sata hard drives have jumpers?

Have you tried what the others suggested, try taking the HDD out and booting up then, if it does boot into the BIOS you know your hard drive is dead but if it doesn't it could many problems...

This probably won't work, coming to the fact that the bios won't come up, but everything else has been suggested, so maybe try booting form the windows cd. See if that does anything. And also, how old is your hard drive?

Well I have done what everyone has suggested. Well I know that there is nothing wrong with the hard drive.

So Iam left with the motherboard, processor and graphics card.

Looking at the debug LED , the post code goes up to 29 and then stops at 26.

Does anyone what the post code 26 stands for?
