MY PHONE WON'T UPDATE OR DOWNLOAD

Hi all,

This is my first time in this area, but not this forum. I have asked many questions in the Desktop Computers section.

I have a cheap AT&T Maven III Android cellphone, and it won't update or download anything anymore. I think it is something I did a couple of years ago. So my question is: Is there anything I should check or do to get it to do these things again?

Thanks, Mark

It won't update anything because its an old phone and out of support as its over 8 years old now. You need a new one.

Hi johnb35!
I wasn't sure if you would answer this post or not, but I'm glad you did.
I was hoping that wasn't the answer. Unfortunately my wife and I don't work and we live off of my SSDI benefits from a car crash back in 1994. We are both 74 and she's the one who really needs a current phone. Not me. So getting myself a new one would be difficult for me to justify. Oh well, I tried. :( Thanks once again johnb35 for the swift answer.

You may have some joy by doing a factory reset. This would exclude any wayward user settings.

Hi Okedokey!
Thanks for joining in! I have tried a couple of times to do a factory reset, but my phone won't let me do that either.

More information required. What exact message or error do you get? Is it plugged in? Is it charged?

Hi Okedokey!

I have had to change my PIN a couple of times recently and my phone is now currently rejecting any PIN number I have entered. BUT, even before that, when I only had one PIN, it would just give me that buffering circle going round and round and round.

A hard reset is in order and you've probably PUKd the phone now with spamming incorrect pins. So you're probably SOL at this point.
