Im thinking about getting another desktop, but im not sure if I will sell my laptop or not. Anyways, heres the jist of what im getting:

Sceptre 22" 2ms 2000:1 LCD
8800GTS 320MB
Silverstone 750W Quad +12V@18A
Asus P5N-E SLI 650i
Core 2 Duo E4300
G.Skill 2x 1GB DDR2-800 RAM

20x IDE DVD Burner
20x SATA DVD Burner
Lian-Li PC-7B Case
Vantec Fan Controller
Sony Floppy Drive
Thermaltake CPU Cooler
2x 120mm high-flow fans
80mm high-flow fan

For a total of $1,580 after shipping.

Im getting the E4300 because I've heard it should be a great overclocker, and i'm just using it until Intel's new 45nm quad-core comes out later this year.

That's a sweet build. Why have such a high end card and PSU and only getting the E43....nvm....just read the bottom part. :P

Instead of getting just a mediocre power supply, this way I wont have to get a new PSU or other components when I buy the x2900 and the new quad-cores. :)

I also plan to overclock the E4300 to at least 3Ghz.

I would wait till this summer when the new Agena and Kuma come out, they might, just might kick butt:D ! Thats why I still have my 4600, right now you would have to give me a new processor to upgrade. Waiting till summer!

I was thinking about waiting until school gets out in May, but the E4300 is only $166, it's not like im buying a $900 QX6700 :P

It's something I need to think about. :)

I did some editing, removed some of the little extra's, and now the total is down to $1,473 after shipping. But still the same basic components.

Anyone else have any comments?

lol, you always ask why, whether its someone buying something or someone selling something :P

I just kinda want a computer that can play games pretty well, and I really miss overclocking, lol.

Im too lazy to search, but does anyone know when Halo2, UT2007, Crysis, Team Fortress 2, or any of the newer games are coming out? I need a PC to play those games, but I have a feeling they arent going to be coming out for several months...

Nice, E4300 is a great OC'er, have you thought about the 6320 coming in 13 days. Intel will probably be jackarses about their new line of Core 2 Duo's and lock the multipliers. I wonder if they know we have mastered the way to take a 6300 and make a 6400, lol. Anyway, are you RAID'ing those HD's? What do you need a floppy drive for? I have had mine and used it once, I could have used the $7 for another case fan or some EL wire.

I've done some research online and alot of people have gotten their E4300's from 3.2-3.8Ghz pretty easily. But the only Core 2 Duo that has unlocked multipliers is the X6800.

I havent decided whether to get one or two hard drives. If I get two, I would have them in a RAID 0 array.

And the floppy drive would be for updating the BIOS if they dont allow you to do it within Windows, as well as having it if I ever need to flash my video card BIOS.

I thought E4300-E6700 had unlocked multipliers, no? If not, how in the crap would I OC my E6600?

The E4300, E6300-E6700 all have locked multipliers, the only ones that dont are the QX6700 and X6800 (the ones with the X in front).

You overclock the processor by raising the bus speed.

You have already bought a computer with similar parts and sold it, then bought a laptop. You go through so many computers Geoff, and for what? What is so bad about your laptop, or a reasonably priced desktop? $1500 is so much for just playing some games (which gets boring FAST) and some overclocking (big friggin deal). You should really think about this.

lol, I was just about to say that I decided to hold off until the x2900 and more quad-cores come out before buying one, since this will be just like the desktop I had back in December. I need to get that money out of my bank account before I spend it :P

I do the same thing, I will keep one for a while and sell it to one of my biz clients. It works out, too. Good reasons, include 1) I am usually up to date. 2) Since I am selling it to a client I get close to the same amount back. There is nothing wrong with this. The only reason I haven't sold my 965WH is because I am going to part it out for my bro.'s next PC. I have sold two of my Dell's and a Gateway.

lol first game u want to buy: oblivion. the gameplay is WAY better then on computers... i love love love that game

Really? I tried it once for like 10 minutes when my cousin brought it over, didnt seem that great, but it was probably just because I wasnt used to it.

If I can get it pretty cheap, I will :)
