My problem is back

As I mentioned in another thread, I recently upgraded my computer with a 6800 nvidia and 512 RAM. After installing everything went fine until the 2nd or 3rd day when the computer would shut down and not start back up properly(it would turn on, but just do this weird reboot cycle... it would show the nvidia spec page, the eMachines logo page, then reboot and repeat itself) . If I let it be for awhile, it would work again, but of course start acting up again after a day or so.

Everyone suggested upgrading my PSU, which I did. I upgraded to this:

Its a very good PSU that should be able to handle my average system (1 gig, nvidia 6800, 2.2 ghz amd athlon 3200+) according to those I asked.

So why is my computer still giving me trouble, shutting down and going into a reboot cycle?

By the way I don't even need the card until oct 11th when a game comes out that I like, so I just unistalled it so I could use my computer until then.

ur right it is a very good PSU. but i dont think it is the psu now.....does it fully load up to the windows desktop or anywhere near???

Hmmm

I would blame it on the OS. Try repairing the installation and if that does not work, I would have a look at reinstalling the OS. If that would result in the same problem, then I would suspect the motherboard acting up. However, it would definitely be worth trying what I have mentioned.

sometimes it gets to windows and shuts down within a few seconds of loading the desktop icons. most of the time it does the reboot cycle thing.

1. What mobo do you have?
2. Are the voltages stable?
3. Have you overloaded a rail? I.e., do you have everything connected inside your computer via 1 set of molex connectors?
4. Could the ATX12 have popped?

I would blame it on the OS.
Its not getting that far...
