Basically, I'd like any comments/suggestions you may have. Also, if anyone sees any glaring compatability issues or anything like that, let me know.

you will need X58

CPU -Do you really need core i7 980X?

RAM - Do you really need 12GB??
Even you want 12GB, they are too expensive

Heatsink - your overall list looks high end, why are you gettin a "low-end" heatsink?

Video card - I am not sure if 5970 is good choice. 5850 crossfire would faster than that at similar price

SSD - I am no expert on SSD. However, the write time seems to be slow when compare to others.

OS - Why not OEM version?

Thanks for the response! This was the kind of feedback I was hoping for.

Mobo - Good call. I'm gonna go with an X58, probably the MSI Big Bang-XPower.

CPU and Memory - I may not need them now, but I want them and I'm sure down the road that power will come in handy. I originally wanted the DOMINATOR line of RAM because I've heard some pretty good things about it. But after looking at the price of the XMS's that you posted I'm kinda rethinking whether or not some goosed up voltage or timing may be worth all that extra money. I'm thinking I'm gonna go with those.

Heatsink - I feel that this heatsink will be adequate for what I want it to do. Yes, I want to go high end for some things (CPU, GPU, RAM) but I gotta draw the line somewhere with regards to finances.

Video Card - I like the 5970. It essentially is two 5870's in one card, with out the hassle of actually having two cards.

SSD - I'll look into it a bit more, but essentially my SSD is going to be a boot drive only. I got the other hard disk for my main storage needs, so I'm not overly concerned about the fastest write times. This is another one of those situations where I gotta save a little money somewhere.

OS - The Home Premium has everything I really need and I don't want to pay the extra for the OEM features I may not ever really need.

not if you oc AT ALL. besides, why get 2 cards when 1 physical one will give better performance?

stick with 6 gb and get more down the road. no reason to piss away money for completely unnecessary items. spend the money on a better heatsink ;) that way you can oc the 980x :D:D:D

for the motherboard, i'd go with the gigabyte. just personal opinion. i am sure someone will say go with the asus in a little bit :P

go with an ssd.

i know it may be a bit overkill, but if you oc the hell out of the cpu and get another 5970 down the road and oc both of them like crazy, you'll definitely want more than 850w.
