My Ram upgrade did noticeably Improve my Internet Speed!

I just upgraded my RAM on my T23 Thinkpad, a second computer I use in the bedroom to save trips to the den where my much better desktop is. My system is XP, 30 gig HD (don't need anything more for what I use the T23 for), Pentium 3 & before my upgrade, I had 512 RAM. Anyway, I decided to upgrade to the maximum 1 Gig of RAM, but because of the problems with one of the two 512 sticks I got (See my other Thread), I've temporarily upgraded to 768 & will be at 1 Gig once the seller replaces the 512 stick that is messed up. Besides speeding up my applications significantly (before sometimes I'd click a shortcut on my desktop & nothing would happen right away & now the application starts immediately), my internet speed as measured by www.testmy.net has increased
a huge amount. So at least in my case, RAM did affect my internet speed.

hmm/// my p4 1.3ghz with 380mb ram starts everything pretty quick... but i defrag it, virus scan it, spyware s0can it, disk cleanup, clear cookies, files, and history almost every day... =) before it had 128MB, and still everyting ran the same way when moreRAM was added.

need i explain more?? :D
if your P4 is slower than his, you've just been scammed... :D:D

ive upgraded my ram twice...it came with 256Mb....then i upgraded it to 512,Then i found myself needing even more ram so i purchased a gig stick.

each time i upgraded it got faster and faster.

ya... but my windows doesnt use that much.. use it slows down considerable when running 2 internet games, 1 cd game, listening to music, and email . but with 5 internet explorers on, i only see a slight difference.

If you have too much running on your computer, and it begins to use the swap file a good bit, yes, your computer WILL slow down. I know for a fact your "internet" didn't speed up, but your over-all system speed probably did. Your hard drive isn't having to load so much other junk...

If a computer is fairlt clean, even older ones can be quick. My old P4 1.4GHz with 128MB RAM can boot up and get onto the internet in about 1.5 minutes. Maybe not even that long. But realize, I have no additional startup programs, firewall, or anything like that. It's all that other crap that really kills your computer. Eh, and getting fragmented :P
