when i start up my pc.... the windows loading screen shows then at about the time when i would expect to see the desktop i get a really screwed up black and white striped screen. i manually restart the computer and it works fine.... and this process happens EVRY TIME i turn on my comp... whats going on?

The following steps will fix this problem.

1. Strap a bomb to your computer
2. Blow it up
3. Buy a new computer

I cannot believe this, You dont seriously think that was funny do you? Honestly if you havent any advice to lend then dont post.

You did not even attempt to help him either. Don't flame me. Hypocrite.

Slow down there hotshot. I did not attempt to help em as I have no advice to give em. I'm not a hypocrite because I don't go around posting with lame ass remarks offering no advice. You might want to look up the meaning of the word before you use it. I simply posted because you disgusted me with your post.

Just wanted to appologize to you Jonskijet for your post getting a bit messy ;).

Has this problem been happening long? Perhaps it started happening right after you installed somthing?

Alright, I don't know what would be wrong with your monitor but blue, I'm sorry but you overreacted. He made a JOKE dude, he didn't say something like:
1. Kill yourself
2. Because you're too stupid to figure out this problem.

He said a random little joke. I mean it's annoying if no one has something to put to help you, but if you notice this entire thread doesn't have help for the problem.

why are you wasting my time? why are you wasting your own time? they both apologized. grow up.

anywyas, thanx for apologies. means a lot cuz ive never seen anyone apologize on a forum :).
Getting back on subject, this started happening after I installed my new video card, the ATI RADEON 9550.

have you tried installing the latest drivers?
That, but also did you remove the old drivers from the old board before installing the new ones? I guess you could always try safe mode - doing the jiggery pokery from there.

Have you tried
a)Using a different montor
b)using your current montir on a differnet machine

It cant really be a coincedence about it all starting wth the introduction of you new card. All i can really suggest it to upgrade your drivers - maybe include you mobo driver in there as well.

Thats cause Computer Forum has a much friendlier attitude then any other i've come across and most are mature :-).

I'm wondering also if perhaps you have some bits lying around your machine from your old drivers. You would be amazed at how many files are actualy left after uninstaling them. Try removing your drivers totaly using Driver Cleaner and reinstalling the latest drivers that are available at the ATi website.

go here for Driver Cleaner http://www.drivercleaner.net/

And here for latest drivers http://www.ati.com/

Good luck.

Yeah some kids just never learn.

@jonskijet: for the record, what monitor do you have? Does this problem appear when you goto safe mode? :)
