My plan is to finalise a list at the weekend with another friend who is also PC knowledgeable. I will probably get all but the graphics card and then get the graphics card after christmas when i have the money. I have taken a shine to the idea of getting an i5 3750k...

Not sure how old that unit is, I have a feeling it may be an older unit, but it should be OK.

Which graphics card are you going for?

Most probably GTX 660 Ti

Hmm the VX 550 should be all right with it. If it were me I'd go for a CX 600 though.
