My Rig is Finally Done!

So I finally got my new rig up and running. Everything works great and I'm finding Vista better than XP, but i think that's becuase my XP machine sucks.
This is my first build and I'm quite happy with it, Although I hope that for my next one I can find a cheap and reliable case that looks good too.

Here are some pictures:

The inside of my case. As you can see, cable management is a nightmare! Cable ties coming soon!

This arrived in the mail today:

My computer does surprisingly well in Crysis, All settings on high @ 1280x1024 with 2x AA gets me around 40 FPS, and when the scene gets heavy with action and explosions i get around 20-25 FPS.
Crysis Warhead and Far Cry 2, along with bomberboysk's Logitech G5 are arriving some time next week.

It also maxed CS:S, the video stress test gave me an average of 70 FPS with V-SYNC enabled on 75hz. I'm hoping this is the case for Left 4 Dead...

What do you think of my new system? :D

Wow it looks good man besides the case that is lol but that can be changed once you get some money. I am surprised it runs Crysis that good of course I haven't played it but maybe 30 minutes so I wouldn't know much about what it takes to run it other then what I've read.

PS buy zip ties soon or some tape something has got to be done with those cables lol

Yeah i swear I could lose a limb in those cables... and the first plug of my fan controller just broke! oh well i have 3 left.

Yea my rig was the same way after I first built it I was so tired at the time I just wanted to get it running. Mine isn't so bad now I don't know how it is going to be in my new case(Xclio Godspeed) because it doesn't have any cable management holes like the one I have now does. That sucks about your fan controller I never felt I needed one of those because I don't mind the noise, I like my temps to be as low as possible, and they just leave me with more cables to hide.

Looks okay..ish.

you realy need to tidy up that hole you cut in the side panel, round it all smoothly with a dremmel.

Why not give the case a complete re-spray? and cover up that hole below the cd drive?

Or move the cd drive to the top....and add a 80 or 120mm fan to the front for a intake.

then it will look good.

Yeah I will... everything would look better if the colours matched but for now it's fine.
By the way, that hole was done with garden trimmers... I'll tidy it up soon i hope.
I lost the front bezel for the case :(

Yep, it's a CNPS7000C-ALCU. It keeps my C2D around 25*C idling. Load temps around mid 30's... no overclocking as of yet.

Thats a micro atx board right?

I have never seen a board with only 2 memory slots.

I would put something in place of the drive cover that you lost, like make a piece of cardboard, and put the rear metal PCI covers on also to keep dust out.

The system is pretty quiet, the only loud fan is the GPU's which is always on 100%. Yes, it's a mATX board with 2 memory slots, the max is 4GB, i currently have 2 and just ordered another 1gb stick of the same make and model. And i just got up to the exodus chapter in crysis :)

Id move your optical drives to the top, looks better IMO. Another thing you could do is spray it with a nice coat of flat black paint, white/beige is too 90's:P

Yeah. I'll see how soon i can get some black spray paint and a flat black finish. I think the white looks good with the blue though.

I think you did a great job for your first build with little money. How much did all that cost you. Was that case cheap I hope so lol.

the case is from my old Socket A system, I thought i might as well save some money on a case and get better components...
In total, the thing cost me around $450-$550 in AUD, I didnt keep track of it.
