My scholarship is sending me a new laptop

Its a compaq...

They said I don't have a choice on what to get. They have a deal with compaq for the students. I am just wondering if someone has experience with their scholarship committee sending them laptops and if it was the bottom line one. I mean, I appreciate the laptop of course, but I don't want to end up getting a celeron processor :(

The check they wrote out was for $1500. I hope they are actually using the whole amount and I'd end up getting a core 2 duo. :P

P.S.

I don't want you guys thinking I'm being greedy. It's just that I don't want to have a laptop that I won't even be able to use. If I get that celeron processor that is offered on the base models, I won't even be able to use it because I have programs that require more processing power and I do a LOT of multitasking.

actually I just checked... the base ones are the ones with Semprons ... no celeron offered. :(

thank you for making me feel better :(

I am thinking more than likely though, that I end up with an AMD Turion dual core processor. How do these compare to the intel's core 2 duo processors?

Haha, sorry. Generally speaking the Celeron's are horrible processors, but the Celeron M is built off the same architecture as the Pentium M, which is similar to the Core architecture.

Even having a Sempron wont be that bad, it will just take a bit longer to convert stuff :)

Here is what they said.

Yea that's not too good of a lappy. Probably $600 if you were to buy it from a store. But it should do everything you need it to just fine.

So you have a:

Pentium M 1.6Ghz
512MB DDR
Intel GMA900
40GB HD

It's a decent laptop, better then the Celeron you said earlier, but it's not a high-end machine.

Well, to be honest, once I get it, it's going on ebay or here. I'll sell it and put in some of my own money for a dell E1405 with a core 2 duo.

Anyone want to offer anything for it right now? It comes with:

Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional

MICROSOFT CORPORATION
Bronze Service Contract 3Yr Plan (1Yr Base) Notebooks/Tablet, 9x5 Phone, Unlimited Accidental Damage, Depot Repair

MERRIMACK SERVICES/SERVICES
eTrust Internet Security Suite OEM 1-Pack Multi-Language

TARGUS
512MB PC2700 333MHz 200-pin DDR SDRAM SODIMM Upgrade

Considering all of the accessories, I'll take the best offer.

The E1405 can only have integrated video, you may want to look at the E1505 which can have a dedicated card.

How much would you sell that laptop for?
