My Sisters COmputer

This is the biggest challenge I have had yet. Normally I build computers which cost £800+. But my little sister ( aged 11 ) wants me to build her a computer for £400 or less. This has to include everything apart from speakers and a operating system ( already have them ). The computer will mainly be used for msn, internet and the odd time where she likes to play the sims. Please will everyone help me because I dont know where to start.

Thanks In Advance

RICHARD

if she just wants the pc for surfing the net and email then just buy one pre built from pcworld or overclockers for that amount of money.

Yep and Sims is far far away from a high requirement game.

If you wanna speed it up could just go to your local shop and just buy a cheap system and depending on how many slots the mobo and the memory that comes with the system buy a few 512mb memory sticks from Tigerdirect or Newegg

The Sims 1 is undemanding yes, if it's the Sims 2 then there could be a struggle, my friend's PC can struggle, it has an Athlon64 3500+, 1GB PC-5300 and the nVidia 6100 integrated. Even mine stuuglles when there are about 10 people hanging around my car showroom.

Really?
I must be honest the only time I played Sims was on the SNES when I was 8 years old lol and the only PC version I saw was Sim City 2000 I think and it didn't look to much of a hog.

If its that Sims might want to throw in a decent 128mb card then they are pretty cheap now a days.

Thats £345 total but knowing that UK prices are generally more expensive there's that £55 extra which is more than adequate.

Good luck.

Fairly Nice computer, since you dont live in USA, no tax, and everything is free shipping
(I think Keyboard and mouse combo is like 7 pounds at least)

Unless I hit the quote button that looks like this "<a href="http://img395.imageshack.us/my.php?image=compwith400poundswl7.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img395.imageshack.us/img395/2769/compwith400poundswl7.th.jpg" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" /></a>". Strange.

An 11-yr old girl is not gonna need anything but a 7300GT. Just make it so she can play The Sims 2, the Sims 1 ran on many a crappy system. No heavy gaming, when she becomes older, she won't even care and will just want it for Myspace and IM'ing. This is pretty obvious ppl, I notice what they do after 13, Myspace, Myspace, Myspace, ICQ, ICQ, ICQ, AIM, AIM, AIM, email, email, email, Facebook, Facebook, Facebook,
