my sound driver won't instal

i have motherboard A8R-MVP,
and i am using on-board sound card, i try instaling the driver using the cd, or tried to download the latest drivers from the internet...
however i am getting the same sign all the time...
"The audio driver file does not support this computer hardware"
I don't know why this is happeneing...
currently i am using windows xp, and vista,
and the sound doesn't work on either of them...

HELP!!!
 
get into safe mode and remove all previous installed drivers. after doing that, you can download this windows install cleanup, and see if that helps too.

Also in the Drivercache, there might be some old misinfo on your sound drivers that is telling the install that it is some different hardware. I cannot tell you what to do in the driver cache without knowing the file names, but I am sure the members of this awesome forum can help you with that??????? (hint)

Also, after getting these things done, an issue you might have is that windows might have failed in recocnizing your hardware and installs some wrong drivers, which you install CD or newly downloaded drivers use to define your hardware. You need to diable you plug and pray maybe?
In any case, it would be good to get it all cleaned out and then go to MSupdate and choose hardware, to see if it finds something it would like to use. That might help you to get windows to install something that doesn't screw up your install. Just fishing here.......
