Hello my name is Jason and I am interested in building a computer, but I have no clue on how to I would like help =P

I have a Intel GMA X3000 and I would like to know if I were to buy a radeon 256 or 512mb card and insert it into my computer and it would work just like I bought it like that.

I assume you mean Doom 3 :P And it will do that, you really need a discrete video card if you want to play games. If you buy one, you just have to plug it in and attach your monitor cable to it and it will work. You might also want to disable your onboard graphics (if it's not autodisabled) or turn down the amount of memory allocated to it in the BIOS if you get a discrete card.

What do you mean "I assume you mean Doom 3 And it will do that," does that mean by diabling my onbard graphic it will enable me to play doom 3? and how would i turn down the memory in the bios? which setting I have a hp pavillion a1640n

He assumed that you mean Doom 3, not Doom. And that your graphics card is not suppose to play doom 3 with good frame rates with any settings. You're going to have to buy a dedicated graphics card before disabling your onboard graphics. Once you disable your onboard graphics, the memory should be freed from your system ram.

If I were to disable onboard graphics would be whole graphic card just be gone? I did some research and to me it sounds like it my graphic card. I went here: http://www.computing.net/cgi-bin/printer.pl?2161|gaming

If you disable your onboard graphics your computer will not function, as it will not have a graphics adapter. You have to buy a graphics card first, then disable your onboard.
