ok, the title states what i was ganna ask,

allow me to explain what i did,,,

I used the atitool 0.24
accidently, i clicked "find max core"
and after 5min of some kind of testing, the computer froze...
my friend did tell me that i just overclocked my video card, i am not sure what just happened..

now the problem is that it is making this high pitch sound, "CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC"
very anoing, making me feel like i did something wrong...

help me out, i don't wanna oc my gpu, nor fry it...

The process of removing the ATI tool by booting in safe mode should be easy enough since that for the most part is a software controlled element. Once that is removed the clock speed on the card should fall right back to normal again. I didn't hear the sound you are mentioning here. But a simple removal cleaned up the lock at that time.

USUALLY... that means the power is unplugged from your videocard.

i dont even know why im saying this but check to make sure its got its plug.
if not then you may have fried the gpu?

but dont just freak out yet im just making an assumption

I just ran the ATI at max everything for a hours running Half Life 2 without issues as the program reported no probliems found. But it is still a program that gives instructions and saves settings. It doesn't load with Windows however. This type of tool also acts like a stress tester where you may have done some damage. Did you first remove the original drivers and go with the "soft mod" type Catalyst and driver set?

Looks like most likely you've burned your GPU, there's nothing you can do except recycle the parts and get few cents for that, rofl, sry I had to do that, I know I won't help any but I really have no idea what's wrong with your card, try to boot with some other vid cards if you can so we can be sure it's a graphic card issue.

Can you at least go into BIOS and stuff like that so you can make a bootable floppy disk and reflash the g card BIOS and get your clocks to default state?

It doesnt have enough power. Have you plugged in the auxillary power supply. I made the same mistake once that is the worst sound ever.

i mean, right now computer is running fine, i think,,, except the sound is what i don't like, and the fan is running fine, guessing that the power is plugged fine,
and psu is not bad i think..

your hsf may be faulty? might be a software problem that detects the gpus tem, and the hsf may have fied permanently at that temp, so yu might just have a noisy hsf (this is assuming it is a gfx card with a hsf preattached)

Sorry but I missread something.

Try this, set the percentage to whatever you like (50%, 75%, etc.)

The latest ATITool 0.24 has a screen like this to reset the defaults.

The problem you may be having with a sound is more likely the sound card itself. An overheating cpu doesn't emit any sound. An overheating alarm usually a monitoring program would however. But that would only be heard after the system has been running long enough to start overheating. A cold start wouldn't hear that. With your normal desktop coming up as always something else sound card or otherwise is the source. Glad to hear you have it restored. But keep in mind the screen shot here for reference.
