il be starting building my first pc in afew days when my parts arrive just wanted a bit of advice on my work area it will be on my dining table in my flat which is wooden sitting on carpet (the whole flat is carpeted except the bathroom) i know about static and the damage it can do so how can i best reduce the potential damage? ive got an earth wrist strap from work but to be honest their isnt anything to earth too, ive been told to wear my trainers and not just socks???

any help would be greatly appreciated :)

When building your pc, providing the PSU is already fitted onto the case, make sure the pc is plugged into the wall, but the switch is OFF. Then clip your wrist strap onto the pc case, and done. You're now earthed :)

Ah excellent thank you i didnt think of that, its not preinstalled but i will of course be doing that before i remove anything from their anti-static bags

thank you very much!

That's no problem, considering it's your first time, if you have any problems building your pc then feel free to post on this thread :)

probably smart to turn off any fans or air conditioning a couple mins before to keep the dust out of the parts.
