IF i goto myspace and the page will not fully load, ex try to find someting.something.com, basicly it is timming out. i loose all web access but i can still use irc and IM. I guess i can still use those because I am already connected before the myspace issue and i have the sever IP's.

To fix this i have to wait a long time or reboot my router. So what is causing this problem? The problem happens on opera or firefox on ubuntu. I think it happens on windows but i have used it in a couple of weeks.

What causes this and how can i fix it?

what is your ISP speed???

What would that have to do with it? Actually, I'll admit I don't fully understand the problem - you say Myspace, but then you say something.something.com. Is it just Myspace, or other web sites as well?

And you're saying when you visit Myspace (or these other sites), you lose connection (but remain connected through IRC and other chat applications), is this correct? And you have to "reboot [your] router" to remedy the issue?

It sounds like something on Myspace's site could be crashing your browser or something, you could try updating your flash player or whatever it is that horrible site uses to barrage you with ads.

Have you tried closing all your browser windows and deleting your cookies, then re-opening a browser, as opposed to rebooting your computer?

If you are using a router then unplug it and plug it back in or hit the reset button and then restart your pc. That will reset the connections. Routers get clogged up with info very easily when downloading stuff and make your internet connection very slow. If you dont have a router then simply unplug your ethernet cable and plug it back in.

he has already stated that when he reboots the router it fixes the problem for the time being.. so the point of your post was worthless

I ment when loading a page on myspace the status bar in opera says trying to find hostname someURL.com. Yes this problem happens with other sites like facebook, twitter and digg.

Yes, or wait 5 minuets. Also my home page is google so before I go to myspace I have a working connection to google. After I attempt to connect to myspace(or other sites) I can still go to Google, however, I cannont go to any links it provides me. This happens because I have the IP of google but do not have the IP of any other site. This would seem like a DNS issue but I have set my router and computer DNS to comcast and openDNS. same issue with any combonation of router or computer DNS setting.

It does not appaer to crash the browser as i can close the tabe open other tabs and use other features of the browser.

does not fix it.

I know the router is a POS but I do not understand how/why it would be causing the issue. I could directly connect to my modem to see if i get the same problem.

try this out:
1. ping the problem sites.
2. under linux you can use "mtr" the ip address of the site.
Try it whit a packet of 1500
Tell what hapened
3 Try a different browser like firefox under linux
and IE under Win

I bought a new router and fixed the problem. I dont know why my linksys RT41-BU was choking on myspace tho.
