Mysterious driver missing Johnb?????

Hi Johnb, I tried installing several of the drivers in that link but they all were the IFX0102 which apparently didn't work as the unknown device is still unknown. I really suspect that the unknown device is the Laser printer that it is not recognizing. Even though the Brother drivers have been installed and says it is working properly.

Not only that, but a window popped up saying my Windows operating system is not genuine and it will not update without going to Microsoft and entering the key (I am assuming anyway) But I don't have a product key. The guy I bought the computer from said I didn't need it. I asked him what happens if it crashes? He gives me this disk that had hand written Win 7 on it. So I think I am up a creek as far as updates go until I can afford to buy a full version Win 7 with COA. I should have known better but the guy professed to be a Christian and I took him at his word.

I guess I am just stuck unless help comes from above. Thank you for all you've done for me I appreciate all of the tech's input.

Unfortunately, we are unable to help you any further since you don't have a key for the OS. Actually what it sounds like is the key was entered but it wasn't allowed for activation.

No, the unknown device is NOT the printer. If you bought this from someone then contact that person about making it right with you. If he won't do anything you will need to buy a new copy of the os and do a reinstall.

Afterwards go back to that unknown device and do the update and point it to windows update to see if it has a driver for it. Or since this is an outdated computer, I would just save money and get a new setup.

OK Johnb, I think I will just try to find a Win 7 disk and re-install it to the 500gig HD I just bought and installed. The computer is very clean and seems to run well. And since I've already invested enough in already, to just sack it is not a terrific option. You are right it would have been cheaper in the long run to have just bought a new one but when you are limited by a SocSec income, you have to buy stuff a little at a time.
God Bless you for all the help you have given.
