Mysterious error: IRQL not less or equel

hello everybody!

I`m not sure if I`ve put this thread in the right section, since i don`t know what`s causing it. I have a big problem with my Acer laptop. Its a travelmate 4000. A while ago I re-installed windows but during the installation a blue screen with the message not less or equel kept popping up. After that the computer would restart and the process started again. I brought the computer to a computerstore so the can find out what the problem is. The first time it was there they completed the windows installation and they installed all the updates. The didn`t see the blue screen once. When i took it home the computer started in windows but after a minute i got the screen again and it would start again, blue screen, start again etc... So, I went back to the store and they kept the computer for a week and no screen again. And when i took it home i had the same problem again! So basically, at the store it is working but in my house it`s not! The battery is not working anymore so its running on direct powersupply. Could that make a difference? I`m completely clueless and so is everybody in the store. Does anybody have a suggestion? I appreciate all suggestions!

Thanx,

Minke

what version of windows

also try running a memtest86 on that and see if your ram is bad. it takes a while... actually it never stops but make sure you let it do 1 complete pass before rebooting.

google and you will find it.

I would let memtest do at least 2 passes without error before I'd say the RAM is known good.
